Look Up!

Whale shark in sun LWYesterday those diving in Sulawesi’s hidden paradise of Gorontalo had a dramatic encounter with a local whale shark. Miguel’s Diving staff encourage divers to look up whenever the sun darkens because there just might be a large pelagic passing overhead. Whale sharks love to play in the divers’ bubbles. Actually, there was a young four-meter long whale shark overhead during the first dive that went unnoticed by divers, despite the frantic banging by dive staff on the boat ladder. The young whale shark really liked cuddling close to the dive boat. During the surface interval the crew went searching for the whale shark and spotted a fin that soon disappeared into the blue. During the second dive a much larger whale shark blocked out the sun. Everyone saw this one, resulting in some great photos and memories.
